    Hello Sarah,
It’s me again ?? While adding users to our intranet site I found out that users with their lastname starting with the letter “V” (I use last name for sorting) are not being displayed by your plugin . I can see the user being created in WP successfully and I can also see the user in the “Exclude or Include These Users” screen in the Admin interface of the plugin. It just doesn’t show up in the actual page. Any ideas?

    KR,
    Marco

Just noticed that when the “Sort field” is set to “Display Name (wp_users_table)” more names disappear from the listing.

Thanks for alerting me to this, Marco. I have just put out an update that may resolve your problem. Would you mind running that and then let me know if you still get the same issue?

Hi Sarah, thanks again for your quick response. I’m afraid the update didn’t fix the issues.

    Hi Marco,

Okay, thanks. Let me ask you a few questions:

    1. Are you able to click on the letter and pull up a listing that is missing a few names, or is the letter not hyperlinked at all?

    2. Have you selected to hide any user roles, or to include/exclude any users? If so, please try deselecting all users for these two settings and let me know if that makes any difference.

    Hi Sarah,
I did the include/exclude test as well, but no luck. Also the letter V is not hyperlinked at all. I just noticed b.t.w. that changing the URL part “employees/?letter=V” does pull the users, they are there ??

    Tnx,
    Marco

Ok, might this be a hint? We’re in the Netherlands and we use many last names in the “van<space>Dijk” format. For us this name should be under the letter “D”, but the plugin puts it under “V” (assuming the US format like “Vandijk”). Does this make sense?

-edit- it might not be related because the issue still exists even when only single words like Vandijk are used.

    Marco,

Would you mind contacting me at [email protected] to discuss further? If at all possible I would like to send you the plugin file with some debug statements added so I can see exactly what is going on.

Once I locate the problem it shouldn’t be difficult to resolve.

    Thanks!

Alternatively, I could send you a few code snippets to paste into the plugin yourself. But in any case I will definitely be putting out an update shortly that improves the code generating the letter links.

    Hi Marco,

I’ve just put out an update that includes a change to the way the alpha links are generated. This may correct your issue. But if not, I’ve also included a new “debug mode” setting that will generate some debug statements when switched on. Please let me know if you still have the same problem after you run the update, and I’ll show you how to use the debug mode.

    Thanks for your patience!

    Hi Sarah,
Sorry for my late response, sunshine got in conflict with time spent in front of a computer screen ;-). Good news! The issue seems to be fixed. Names with the letter V now get displayed correctly. Also sorting users by display name works now.

Many thanks for you support ans swift responses!!

p.s. In case you get bored ;-)) , I have a feature request that could be a nice enhancement to your plugin. This would be to make the directory listing searchable (either through the WP search, or a separate function).

    Best regards!

Great news! Glad to hear things are working properly again. A search feature is another excellent suggestion – I’ll be sure to add it to my planned features list.

    All the best,
    Sarah
