Name Servers / DNS hangovers from old account
-
Hi,
We previously used WordPress business hosted by WordPress. Our registrar is one.com and the nameservers were pointed to wordpress.
We then got a developer involved to take over the maintenance and they insisted on moving hosting over to Digital Ocean running Plesk. Since the migration, we are not working together any more for various reasons.
The issue is that one.com is still pointing at wordpress name servers, yet within wordpress, we cannot access the DNS settings (as we don’t have a premium account and the site is no longer hosted with WP).
When I run
dig
it returns a Digital Ocean IP address, yet there are no DNS settings directly within DO. Within Plesk, the name servers point back at one.com.I tried reverting the one.com nameserver back to default (i.e. one.com not wp) and got reports the site was down from a few people (although always seemed to hit a (probably cached) version of the site myself no matter how I accessed it) and so I backed out and reverted back to the WP nameservers.
I’ve reached out to the developer that did the migration for them to explain the configuration but in the meantime, perhaps someone can help please?
It feels like the wordpress DNS is still running, even though I can’t access it. Is that possible? Ideally I would be able to obtain all of the previous records from those settings and then migrate everything back to one.com.
TIA
