• My ISP was about to pull the plug on my site because of brute force attacks going on. I searched and tried a few security plugins and settled on Wordfence because it was easy to install, easy to configure, and utterly and totally effective. It took a day or two to fully block all brute force attacks once I set the parameters to block instead of just throttle (I should have selected the High Security or maybe even Lockdown settings to start, but approached it incrementally).

In any case, here it is two weeks later and there are nearly 100 blocked IPs, many thousands of blocked hits, some only a few seconds ago. There continue to be attack attempts, but the ISP says my resource usage is well below limits. This is entirely thanks to Wordfence.

Wordfence is a superbly architected and implemented plugin that is highly effective, configurable, yet simple. Highly recommended.
