I have run into a new issue just recently regarding the ā€œnā€ key shortcut for showing notifications. Regardless of there not being a way to disable these shortcuts, which there should be, it is interfering with typing in some WordPress/WooCommerce fields.

My issue is that I make user accounts manually most of the time, because Iā€™m processing manual orders for most of my new clients as I use WordPress as my POS system and my industry needs to record customer names for sales. The new issue is when Iā€™m typing in a userā€™s profile information, the country field (added by WooCommerce) specifically. I tab to it and begin typing ā€œunā€, to get it to jump to United States. When I type the ā€œnā€, the notification bar on the right side is shown because somehow focus isnā€™t staying in the country field. I have to either manually click back to where I was typing, or pause slightly and then hit the ā€œnā€ key again to continue filtering. It occurs in both the country and state info boxes. It has been happening for a month or two now. It functioned for a long time correctly before this.

  • Hi @allarmsllc

I understand that the “n” keyboard key is interfering with the Jetpack Notifications when you are trying to create accounts for your customers. May I ask where you are precisely creating these? Are you adding/creating users on your WordPress Admin dashboard or some other place? We need to reproduce this to be able to report it to our developers.

Yes, using the standard admin Add New User function.

    Hi there

I was able to see the behaviour you described when editing a user’s profile.

This is because when you click on the ‘select a country/region’ dropdown it opens the dropdown list, but doesn’t move focus to the text input field. Because there is no text field in focus, the ‘n’ shortcut will still work.

If you click into the text field within the dropdown, then type ‘un’ the shortcut won’t be activated.

So basically it requires two clicks, one to open the dropdown, and another to select the text input field.

If you’re using the keyboard to navigate, there doesn’t appear to be a way to tab into that input field, so you may want to report that to WooCommerce support so they can look into getting that fixed.
