Quick Explanation: On my site (https://www.hpdp.org), the home page isn’t scrolling the featured posts, and the “For the Public” page is just a blank box. To clarify, I have 5 posts categorized as “Featured” and the home page and “For the Public page” are selected to show featured posts.

Question 1: Is there a bug going on, or am I missing something?

MORE IMPORTANT QUESTION: RATHER THAN TROUBLESHOOT, would someone please explain how to mark a post a featured. The explanation in the themes options is poor. Does it mean that you create a category called “featured” and that’s it? That’s what I’m doing, but maybe it has nothing to do with categories- it doesn’t explain it anywhere. If you can describe how to do this, I’ll figure this out myself.

    please message me too!!! nick(dot)arpanet(at)gmail.com

  • Did you resolve this and how? It seems like that on your site the featured posts are scrolling.

I can’t get this to work either. Featured posts aren’t scrolling.

Also, how can I exclude the featured posts from the main loop? It seems a bit silly that the featured posts scroll in the slider and are also displayed in the main loop below. I have tried this: WP Codex: query_posts, but it doesn’t seem to work.

I just upgraded to mystique 2.42 and now I am having problems in getting the settings to work so as I can reconfigure my website to its original look. Can anyone help me please.

featured posts can be selected from the dashboard – posts page.

@carpet media: If you mean that the layout is screwed up. Try resetting the Mystique settings to default. Solved it for me.

@digitalnature: Thanks for your reply and the GREAT theme!
But I still have the problem that featured posts don’t slide. See my site (WIP): JBStart. Also, when going to the 2nd page, the featured posts change.
And how do I exclude the featured posts from the regular posts below the featured box?
    BTW: I’m using a child-theme.

Oke, I solved my problem and as usual it was pretty simple/stupid. I confused featured posts with sticky posts. This happened because I was messing around with some plugins to feature sticky posts… Semantics…

Featured posts in Mystique theme add a checkbox on the dashboard->posts page. Sticky posts on the dashboard->posts->edit post page. I didn’t even notice the added functionality on the posts page.

It was extra confusing, because the sticky posts were displayed in the featured posts area. I probably did not specify my problem clear enough…

Wish: Now I would like the added functionality that the featured posts area has the ability to skip between posts. With the Apple-like dots underneath.

Bug: Saving the Mystique settings in IE messes up the column layout.

    Hello,

To follow-up from my original post, I did figure it out. I was previously using a theme that designated the featured posts marque by marking those posts with the category “featured.” So when I changed over to Mystique, it was hard to tell whether Mystique had set up that category as a default, or if it came from my previous theme….

Nevertheless, to summarize, a post is marked “featured” by going to the posts page (so you are viewing all your posts in the admin daashboard). There is a column titled “featured,” and you highlight the Star for the posts you want featured. It seems clear after you see that, but is tricky if you are not aware that that column was added by the Mystique theme. This explanation might be worth putting in the documentation.
