I just made a new page here https://girl-like-me.net/wp/girl/ and just before the image of me there’s a tag – causing my page not to validate. I see no reason for it to be there. I’ve checked the page template, I’ve checked the actual page and everything. What’s more is that it’s just randomly before the image. Which makes it even stranger. Help!

  • I think the problem is that the closing is not being added.

What I’m trying to get at is that there’s no reason for there to be a paragraph tag in the first place. I dont know where it’s coming from.

I know. If there was no , then your page while valid, would not be marked up correctly. That’s why WP adds these tags.
Is the <img the very first thing in the editing box ?

Have you changed any of the backend code, or installed any plugins that interfere with the autop function ?

To me, as I said above, the tag is correct and the problem is the lack of a closing .

In options, check that this ‘ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically’ is checked.

Nope, I haven’t installed any such plugins.
And no, it’s on the third line in the box.
And yes, that option is checked.
So if I add paragraph tags myself will it go away?
/edit/ Yup, it worked! Thanks podz!
