• Hi,
My site is about selling a music education book I published 5 years ago.

A customer contacted me today and let me know that there is a free edition that’s available on Google, and is linked to my site. This should not be.

    He said:
“A 21mb online PDF version comes up on google via the https://garagebandtheory.com/pdf URL. It was probably indexed by google from the html code on your example TOC pages.”

When I click that link (https://garagebandtheory.com/pdf) it goes here:

    Index of /pdf
    Name Last modified Size Description
    Parent Directory –
    GBT_v060111.pdf 2017-08-30 16:10 21M
    _notes/ 2017-08-30 16:10 –
    gbtTable_of_contents..> 2017-08-30 16:10 3.9M

And the parent directory is the website.

I searched the site for GBT_v060111.pdf planning to remove it and can’t find it.

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    DS

  • None of what you are looking for is in your WordPress site itself so you won’t see that there.

Use your file manager from your hosting control panel to download and then delete that whole directory called ‘pdf’.

I want you to download the whole thing just in case something breaks there.

If you are unsure then ask your web host or whoever helped you build that site to help you remove that stuff.
