  • Check your registration settings. If you have registration enabled, and new users set to contributors then bots can create a new user, write a post, and put it into a draft queue for the admin/mod to approve. Unless you are wanting guest bloggers, I would change the new user option to subscriber.

I am not very good with wordpress at this time, could you describe more as to where the ‘registration’ is so that I can change it so no one can post on the blog?

Settings > General and in Membership=choose between “Anyone can register”
or “Users must be registered and logged in to comment”

If we do not want anyone being able to post anything but comments, what should we have check? Currently we have nothing checked.

    Two things here:
    1)Re unauthorized posts
In Settings > General – Membership
If you did not check “Anyone can register” and there are posts which you did not add yourselves, then you have a problem where someone or others are hacking into your installation
    2)Re comments, you go to
Settings > Discussion then choose options for the commenting in your posts.

thanks for the help, I did change the password a couple days ago, maybe I will have to change it every week or so to keep people from hacking in. Do you think this will help?
