• For the last couple of days, the site I made for International Times has been periodically flipping pages – you look at one article, and then after a while it loads another article for no apparent reason. This seems to have coincided with the site being compromised, and search results getting redirected to a spamsome site for possibly-legal drugs. The latter has so far not resurfaced since I upgrade from 3.2.1 to 3.3.1, but the weird page-flipping is still going on.

Could it possibly be a plugin or something? It seems awfully stupid, if so. Can anyone recommend any tricks for figuring out which script could be causing this? There seem to be an awful lot of possible candidates, and I’m not completely sure what code to periodically load another page is going to look like…

  • turn off java scripts in browser and try to search over google again just to check is it java script or something else.

Done – either way the pages Google gives me as spam links now go to my Nothing Found page, as they should.

The page-flipping thing is presumably JavaScript based, of course, but that doesn’t give me a whole lot to go on…

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
