mysql not running Bitnami WordPress instance

    My website has been down for over a week with the message ‘Unable to establish database connection’. As a result I am also unable to get into the wordpress admin for the site. It is a Bitnami WordPress site on Amazon Lightsail. When I try restarting databases via SSH in the Bitnami interface I get a message saying ‘mysql not running’ but the instruction to restart it (/opt/bitnami$ sudo ./ctlscript.sh restart mysql) has no effect.

    The SQL did need updating but I was unable to do this as it’s a complex process in Lightsail involving creating a new instance and moving the whole site across and my website was too big for the WordPress migration tools to handle. I’m wondering if the old version of SQL has just stopped working altogether?

    Anyone got any ideas on how to get my site back?
