• Hi

My database is on phpMyAdmin. Can i backup my database and use it on a whole new fresh install of my wordpress and theme??

During update from 4.0 to 4.01 something completely went wrong. My layout is messed up, my visual editor gone etc…

But i would hate to start all over again with posy, videos, images etc.. how do i do to get my exact layout back?? Please advice…

You can backup your database from phpMyAdmin, by selecting all the tables and exporting. However once you have done your backup, I strongly recommend you look at your plugins and theme and make sure they are up to date then, manually updating WordPress so go to the site, download unzip and reupload if you are able to.

A very small number of plugins and themes which were using badly written code, may accidentally now show shortcodes, things with square brackets. If they haven’t already plugin authors will be updating these plugins so there might already be a new version ready for you.

The recent update was really important and no one should go back to the older versions if at all possible,

Ok. But thats what i did allready. I backed up the database that way. I had for some strange reason not been able to use the auto updater or through the zip upload. So i had to manually upload from ftp. My theme and plugins were up to date.

Is the theme layout related to the database?? After the failed update all was messed up, even the media library were empty but the files were still there in the folders when viewing from ftp…
