My WordPress site has very inconsistent load times (2 seconds – 50 seconds)

  • What could be causing this? For example, here is a test that shows it taking 23.52s to load:

    If I run the same test a few minutes later, it loads in 2 seconds.

    I am hosted with Cloudways + Digital Ocean. I have been working with them for 72 hours on this, and after several attempts we still have not resolved this issue.

    More often than not, the site will take 8-12 seconds to load, sometimes longer.

    Very, very frustrated. Any help would be appreciated

  • Do you use caching?
    Is your site the only one which is slow – if you open another wordpress site, is it much faster to load?

    I have a ‘cloned’ copy of this site with no plugins installed, and it seems to still take forever to load
