My website is going offline and showing 500 internal server error.

Try checking your site’s error logs for a more specific error message. Error 500 is too generic. Your host should be able to help you in accessing your site’s error logs.

The message (memory based as my site is online now) is 500 internal server error or the site is under maintenance or programming error.
I’ll keep you posted once my site goes offline again with the exact message.
btw…how to check site’s error logs?

As informed they say that it’s not from their end and ask me to look for the support from you guys.

Again my site has gone offline.

The header says ‘http 500 internal server error’.
In the page, the messages are-
The website cannot display the page
HTTP 500
Most likely causes:
?The website is under maintenance.
?The website has a programming error.

What you can try:
Refresh the page.

Go back to the previous page.

Please help me…really don’t know how to come out of this.

Ask your hosts for access to your site’s error logs. Wee need a more specific error message.

Hi Esmi,

I have raised the ticket at awardspace.
Btw…during my research I found that wp better security which I am using has done same damage to other sites as well as it changes the .htaccess file (though it’s a great plugin,nothing against it).
Even if I deactivate it this issue will remain as .htaccess does not change with it.

Only option is to reinstall the default wordpress once again but I do not want to loose the contents.

I had to delete the above plugin due to the above issue.
Sorry for bothering you again and again.
Can you please name a security plugin which can rename the backend…let me illustrate by default it is mysite.com/wp-admin and for our security we may edit it to mysite.com/myadmin…actually I am missing this feature of the said plugin.
