• Hello
I use the WordPress SEO plugin already a year and I have no problems with it, but last night I decided to disable this plugin and try another in his place. Тhen I noticed that my web page no longer works, this happens only when I disable this plugin. When I turn it on again, everything starts to work without a problem. Is it possible this plugin to change something in the code on my web page? How can I find out what is the problem?
I would be grateful if you could help me.
    Best regards

  • Have you inserted .htaccessrules through the plugin interface? I suppose it’s possible that these are being removed when you disable the plugin, which could be causing your problem. Otherwise, I’m not aware of any disabling issues with the plugin.

I installed Yoast and changed permalinks from default to postname. Now when I try to go to my blog page i get a white page with “Index of/blog”.
    http:unitedtaekwondo.com

    Index of /blog

    Parent Directory
    agl-tmp-1.html
    efe_3.5.2_portable.zip
    favicon.ico
Apache Server at unitedtaekwondo.com Port 80

I can access both your website pages and your login page. Have you tried clearing the cache on your browser?

For future reference, issues related to permalinks are often resolved by renaming your .htaccess file to .htaccess-HOLD (which disables this file), and then logging into the WP dashboard and re-saving the permalinks again (which will generate a new .htaccess filer with the permalinks rules included), although this method can cause problems if you have additional .htaccessrules from security or caching plugins.

Apologies, I didn’t catch that it was only your blog page where this happens.

Have you set /blog/ as you blog page in the WordPress dashboard > Settings > Reading > Posts page ?

Have you tied re-saving your permalinks in Settings > Permalinks ?

What happens if you deactivate Yoast?

    Hello
Unfortunately I do not know how to fix the htaccessrules through the plugin interface. It is possible to have been removed after I disabled the plugin, I don’t know if this is the problem. Where can I fix this htaccessrules, I don’t see anywhere in the plugin interface such option. Can you help me please?

    Hi,

These are your first 2 steps to take if you can access the WordPress Dashboard:

Have you set /blog/ as you blog page in the WordPress dashboard > Settings > Reading > Posts page ?

Have you tied re-saving your permalinks in Settings > Permalinks ?

If the above does not help then you will need to access your .htaccess file either through an FTP client such as Filezilla, or through the File Manager in cPanel (your host may well have given you login details for this (url+username+password)).

If you can access your site files through either FTP or the cPanel, then you would need to navigate to the directory in File Manager where you find the /wp-content/, /wp-admin/, /wp-includes/ directories. Here you will also see individual files such as wp-config.php and wp-login.php.

Look for the .htaccess file (note that you may need to enable “show hidden files” in the File Manager). Download a backup copy of the file, then delete it and log into your WordPress Dashboard. Go to Settings >> Permalinks and try saving your Post name permalinks again. This will generate a new .htaccess file and may well resolve your issue.
