Where do I go to edit My Web Address? The setting for this must be somewhere on my Dashboard, but I don’t see it.

  • Hi Bob31

    Do you mean This?

Before anything else… Why do you want to do that? I ask this mainly because there’s litterally 1,000’s of support requests here for “Help, I changed my web address and everything broke!”.

If you do really want to change it, please understand first that changing the URL in WordPress will not and cannot change the URL that people use to find your site. That takes a lot more work then just updating a field and hitting ‘Save’.

The setting is in the admin area, under ‘Settings -> General’. But, as stated already, please be careful.

Defiantly follow the codex it can be tricky.
Or is it a fresh install and you just want to change your title name? ??

Edit: On a side note always make backups before doing any giant modifications like the url codex.

No. I mean the citation for “My Web Address” that appears down several inches in the right side of various categories and other features on the displayed page for my blog. Where do I go to correct that citation?

No idea. That’s not a standard WordPress thing, so I’m assuming that it’s part of your theme? Can you give us your sites URL so that we can see it for ourselves?

Here is the address for my blog: https://www.christianityetc.org/blog. You will see this citation several inches down on the right.

Hang on… Something strange going on here. On FireFox, your link redirects back to your sites homepage, so I can’t see what’s actually on the /blog/ sub-folder. In IE it looks like it’s working correctly… Strange…

But, looking at that in IE, it looks like it’s part of the sidebar, so there will most likely be a widget that’s got that content in there. If you can find that widget you can either edit or delete it.
