My users are taken into dashboard

  • Hi,

    I am setting up a blog for a school. I have created a test student account. When I log in using this account it takes me to the back end of the system, i.e. profile information and dashboard. It obviously does not have other options as this user is only set as a subscriber.

    However I would prefer the user to simply be taken back to the blog page once they have logged in. That way they are ready to start adding comments.

    Is there anythying I am doing wrong, or is there no solution to this?

    the answer is in the dashboard, have a explore around the options, or read the mannual online.

    red-devil – your help is truely comprehensive, if you are aware of the solution and wish to divuldge please do so, otherwise continue with your hobby of constant and endless browsing of support forums and leave me alone.

    Is it really necessary to force the students to register just to comment?

    If the answer is yes, there were several attempts to solve this “redirect” issue: search for ‘login redirect’ and similar keywords.

    Yes it is necessary so that we can track students comments. We need to know who is posting. Thanks for the tip I will have a search.

    Though I am very happy when people are in agreement with me, if you don’t have anything constructive to add – better don’t post.

    If you want to help other users, you are more than welcome. But then do it properly, don’t give misleading advice (as above: no, the answer isn’t in the dashboard!) and be more humble.

    Since Red_devil2005 is posting from the same IP address as adeking, it’ll be even MORE interesting for adeking’s blog to track students…
