• My first site — it’s been a while since i attempted to make webpages. Where did HTML and cgi go? ??
I have become pretty good with searching in the forums, and cutting & pasting. Thanks to the community for getting a non-webbie person like me up & crawling:
    https://www.grubgirl.com is my site…
i got the CSS from THE template site … another community appreciation there
i have a sticky post hack in place (thanks A_hall)
    I have meta tags shown
i have let search be able to search meta fields…woo hoo!
    now what, folks?
    * if you see the posting from today (7/2) regarding the image/font…any ideas would help.
    * in the About Us section I’d love to have the text flow nicely around the image
remember, my mind is sloooowly going from static html world to this world of dynamic coolness, which i really don’t get other than cutting & pasting instructions from you folks.
it took me several hours just to move stuff around…so now it’s break time and time for contructive comments from y’all — if you have suggestions, please let me know if the answer is actually inthe forum, so I can look it up, or…if you don’t mind typing in some magical lines that i can cut & paste, that would be cool too (no kiddin).
thanks for all your help, adding to the forums, and now.
    TGIF,
    gg

Fun Fun Fun with FF & IE again….
Take a look at this page in both IE and FF.
My index.php and wp-layouts.css have the “#clearer” thingy defined and then with the wp-layouts.css file, i moved the last “/div” tag to go right above the “/body” tag, per Root’s correction.
With the above change, in IE, the footer ignores the right column and just extends itself over any right column space.
In FF, even after ctrl-f5ing, the footer goes under the right column, which is the original problem.
Both browsers, however, do respect the “clear: both” command in that the footer appears a nice length below the last post.
Well….I guess that’s it for me – I’m going to revert back so it looks nice in IE – only b/c I am not strong with the PHP & all dat.

@grubgirl – regardless of how your page looks, I think you deserve a huge amount of credit for trying so hard to get it all working in ways that have been suggested.
    Go you !

I have the exact same problem here.. does anybody know how to fix this ?
    Root: you said it’s

It is relatively simple to fix.

    HOW ?! hehe ??

Okay i will take a look, but i am dumb as a doornail in theese matters hehe.. aint even got a clue as to whats the problem…

Okay .. i have been reading, and trying out .. but i CANT get the darn credits line to stay put when going to comments page… please be a little more specific if you can.. i simple dont know whats going on here… sorry ??
I tried using your wp template, but same thing happens still…
just to be sure it’s the credits not aligning to the bottom when for instance in comments page problem i got.
I hope you can help me out …

Dont worry. I like CSS layout catastrophes. Can you publish a link to your blog here? Once we see the brute we can get moving.

But i almost accepted that footer moving around a little.. so dont spent time if you dont want hehe ??

I hasten to point out that my template certainly does not have footer overuns. Full installation instructions are included. Remember this is a change to the index as well as the css. Both files are needed.
Any other style sheet can be integrated with minor modification.

i’m baaaack. it’s been a long time as my full-time work called me away.

but now i’ve done a bit more investigating to try to understand PHP and CSS so I’m going to attempt your suggestion again, Root.

please let me know if any files (or links) have been updated since you last posted to this ages ago.

the two things i will try to tackle:
    1) troubleshooting my “About Us” page. in Firefox, it looks fine. In IE, still not so good.

    https://www.grubgirl.com/index.php?cat=26

    hm, code backtick attempt here:

    <span style="font:18pt times,serif;padding:10px;"><img style="float:left; margin-right:0.5em;" src="../images/smallhippo.JPG" alt="GrubGirl Lite" ></span>

    2) the “not a bug, a template design feature” that occurs near the footer of my pages.

2a) apparently on some pages, the body will “leak over” the footer

2b) on some other pages, the body is shorter than the footer, but the ensuing gap is obvious (ie the colors do not seamlessly go from the end of the body to the beginning of the footer)

looks like the org has exploded while i’ve been away — awesome!

Edit: I notice that some of the links in this thread (ie Root’s URL) are now broken/404-ing). Hopefully developments have occurred to prettily resolve this prob in both IE and FF (flippin’ MSFT!!). ??

    Looks good. . .

HTML and CGI are soooo 90’s. ??
