My theme avoids supporting featured image

    Hi
    I am making my own theme.
    Although I have added theme support, I can’t see the featured image box in post editor. but in other themes its ok.
    I have tried these:
    – adding theme support in function.php + “twentytwenty theme” method
    – reinstalling almost everything
    – adding post type to post support
    Also this may have something to do with a note inside wp’s defualt theme:
    * Note that this function is hooked into the after_setup_theme hook, which
    * runs before the init hook. The init hook is too late for some features, such
    * as indicating support for post thumbnails.

    I have been sick of trying and cant figure out whats the matter
    fyi i am working on local host
