My site's appearance all of sudden changing.

I just noticed this today. Sometimes when I go to my site, it looks as if all the customization is gone. The background, the header, the logo – everything is plain and shifted to the left. The navigation menu is gone replaced by just the word menu, again shifted to the left. All customized colors gone, everything is white. If I click on a different menu, everything goes back to normal. So, it is just the front page doing this. Again, it doesn’t do this every time. I first though that it was because I was leaving the www off when I type in the URL, but now I notice that it doesn’t matter. It does it in a variety of browsers, again only some of the time.
What is causing this and how do I fix it?
