• Hi there,

I’m hoping someone can help me, my website, https://sanfelipe.com.mx has started running incredibly slowly and half the time the pages don’t even load, but just give a 500 error. The site was running normally, with page load speeds around 1-3 seconds 3 days ago. I haven’t added any plugins or themes or done any upgrades, or anything other than very routine work (creating posts). I’m not sure what could be causing the problem. So far I have tried:

    – Disabling all plugins
    – Switching to default theme
    – Resetting the htaccess file
    – Checking and optimizing databases
    – Talking to my host (who is hostgator, by the way)

Nothing has made any difference. Hostgator informs me that it is something to do with WordPress, but tells me it’s something different every time, so I don’t think they really know. They do tell me that I’m hitting the process limit of 25 processes at once, but I’m not entirely sure what to begin to do to troubleshoot that.

If anyone can help me or suggest anything at all, I would be hugely grateful… I’m feeling like I’ve exhausted my troubleshooting knowledge, and think that the only solution may be moving the site to a different host, but it would be hugely disappointing to move it and find the issue still present.

    Please help!

  • Hello AnitaNet !

Before answering, you must know that i’m not a web expert but I’ve acquired a “Good” experience using wordpress and dealing with Hosting services.

I use Hostgator too … And all my sites work super fast. So the problem might not be occured by Hostgator .. but who knows.

Whenever I had a problem with WordPress or Hosting problems I used to contact the Hostgator support team (Live Chat) and they resolved all of my issues. So I suggest you to contact them and ask them (INSIST) to check your site.

The first thing to do is look at the error logs and find out what the actual problem is. The error logs for your site will show you what error messages have been recorded for all of the 500 errors, and that’s where you need to start. After you know that, then you can look at other solutions. There’s no point looking for different hosting when that could easily not be the problem.

You can’t do anything until you know what the actual problem is!
