• Hi, on popular reviews, I moved my domain from godaddy to siteground. Spent several days building the site with colormag theme and various plugins for an autoblogging website. I had enabled SSL and cloudfare etc and did all the things that siteground asked me to. Guess what i did not check the site – as i was waiting for autoblogging to reach a certain number of posts. When after a month I check, my entire content, admin access, backup everything is gone. Now i cant access even the dashboard. I checked my database from phpmyadmin, there is nothing there where I had gotten almost 900 posts. Painfully realized they keep backup only for exactly a month and there is no monitoring for unusual disappearance of vast content. I regret this decision. In 5 years with Go daddy while I did not particularly like their service, i never faced any compromise of my website even once. Now I have tried resetting password through phpmyadmin and tried changing file permissions, tried disabling the themes etc but there is no luck. I tried chatting with their support desk who have expressed their helplessness. Biggest mistake to have decided to go to siteground. Their interfaces are not as friendly or flexible. I have dowbloaded Filezilla and trying to see how to get back my access. I know they moved to google cloud last month and done certain upgrades. I dont know where to start to get back my site and access even though I think I will never get back my content.

  • Hallo there ??

    I don’t see a question in there?

It sounds like you might have been using a specific Demo Content Importer.
Outdated versions of that particular plugin allows an actor to remotely wipe the database and potentially take over the site.

I am sorry this happened to you, but the only way to solve this particular issue is to restore a backup, which you indicate that you don’t have.
The www.remarpro.com forums are not intended for reviews of hosting companies.

    All the best.

    Let me clarify

I am not able to get admin access even if I put my passwords right. I have also tried resetting through phpmyadmin. This is the first problem. Not able to get back my admin access. It just says “sorry you do not have access to this page”. My reset passwords are also not working.

If you have a role management plugin or a security plugin installed, you may want to try renaming the folder name for that plugin via your host panel’s File Manager (or equivalent).
