• Hi, has anyone else noticed the twenty ten them no longer validates?

My own site has suddenly started not validating, it was ok last week

    https://www.thejumperweb.co.uk

I switched to twenty ten (even created a clean site with twenty ten) and that doesnt validate either now.

Lots of REl errros and it doesnt seem to like the self closing tags anymore.

Is this just the html5 spec changing or the validator?

  • I can only see 2 errors on your site.

hi, yes theres only 2 on mine, which have just appeared.

The others are when i use the twenty ten theme on a new install, just doesn’t validate anymore

Do bear in mind that validators aren’t perfect.

    thats what I was thinking.

It just seemed rather sudden thats all.Since yesterday, pretty much any WP html5 site i view fails validation.

I have a vague recollection of seeing complaints about HTML 5 validation over the last few days. You also need to keep in mind that the HTML5 spec is still only a draft (and is unlikely to become a recommended spec until 2014). So it is subject to change.

As suggested here, HTML5 spec has changed recently which restricts the values in the rel attribute. So essentially any WordPress theme that uses HTML5 no longer validates because it places non-standard values in the rel attribute (noticeably rel=”category tag” appearing in the_category() function).

Hi thanks, yes was just reading up on that. To be honest, given that the validator i only a tool and im happy that the code is fine, i’ll leave it failing on these rel errors for now.
