    It’s a question m8

    On the side ……

Okay.. I can see the sidebar and it is overlapping.
Where should it be going ?

Well I tweaked the Back in Black theme it org was a top, now I would like it to the side so I can do my own thing with it. So side to answer your question podz ??

    https://www.eretzvaju.org/back-in-black

N??uro’s theme is designed to not have a sidebar.
Putting one in is no small job at all……..

Ok, thats wonderful. I would like to do it though. Any ideas Support Maven?

Work it out, CK. Adding a sidebar to a theme that doesn’t support it is a big job and beyond the scope of even a Support Maven. Try looking at existing themes that support sidebars.

Support forums that don’t support, lol sorry thats too funny. Thanks I will look into something a bit easier for you folks again. Good day.

    Woah …….

Your question – or rather the answer – requires very significant changes to the CSS and the main index page, the addition of a sidebar.php file to assist in control and this sort of thing cannot be done through the forums – it has been tried before and it ends up being extremely painful and frustrating for both parties.

If you want a theme that is black – easy. There are many many people who can help with that.

But doing what you want ? No. Not in this way.

And remember – the support you get here is FREE. No-one is obligated to answer you, and using sarcasm ? No.

Sarcasm…none…not obligated? Doubt that aswell. It seems that each time we visit the site and click on certain aspects we give WP money. When we come with questions we don’t do it for fun Sir. We do it because we have no idea…saying it requires alot of work doesn’t help out those that don’t understand. In my life for everyone that asked me a question and I said sorry I can tell you you wouldnt understand where would that get people. So Sir, you are somewhat obligated to answer if not what is the point of you or anyone being here regardless if it is free or not.

*rolls eyes* Interesting viewpoint. Anyway, everything you need to know is addressed in the Codex. It’s basically a manual for the whole WP system.

Easier by far would be to choose a theme with an overall layout you are looking for and change it to black. There’s several out there, you can find tons of themes and theme-switching abilities at https://alexking.org/, https://wrc.os42.com/ and others linked to from the Codex.

I’ve been wandering in here quite a few times for the last 16 months or so, and I do because when I downloaded WP I read what Matt wrote: “The most valuable donation you can give is your time, be it on the support forums, coding, or writing documentation.”

I can’t code but I do the other two. And money ? Where’s that from then eh ?

You want support ? Fine, you can have support.
You want a Theme creating – which is effectively what you do want – then that is beyond what we can do in the forums. That would need you AND the person helping you to have infinite patience, and ability to read between the lines of each post and know not only what to do but also what not to do, to be in the same time-zone ……

Find a theme you like – and with over 250+ out there one MUST come close – and if you want it to then be turned black, post.

If you really DO want that theme but with a sidebar, then I suggest that in this very thread you ask for someone to contact you and you offer them a fair price for their time and skills. I would advise that this will not be cheap.

Do NOT assume ANYTHING about people helping here, be that this money of which you speak, their knowledge or motivation.

Instead of ranting in the forum you could spend the time getting your permalinks fixed. They have borked.

    Well said Podz.

Apparently CK has confused “the customer is always right,” with freely given advice and knowledge, of a free product.

And to paraphrase; “lol sorry thats too funny.” Or NOT!

EDIT: Looks as though Root has found a more important issue for them to concern themselves with. Not surprised, more worried about style than substance.

BTW CK “It seems that each time we visit the site and click on certain aspects we give WP money.”

Your click, your choice and none of that goes to those that offer free advice!

And somehow I tend to believe if your so easily distracted by those stupid little ads it more than likely wouldn’t be possible to give you what is desired.

Remember, the support forum is for support, not full-fledged design work.
