• I spent multiple hours writing my post. It was incredibly lengthy. I noticed the whole time that my post was autosaving and thought great! When I was finally done with my post I clicked publish. It loaded and then went to a page that said “Are you sure you want to do this” When I clicked the reload button my post had vanished. I freaked out but new that it must have autosaved, so when I clicked to my post page and clicked on it there were only 36 words. The other hundreds of words that I had written are gone. I know they were autosaved I kept checking the bottom. Please, please, please tell me this can be recovered! I don’t think I can recreate such a lengthy post that I poured a lot of time and thought into. I appreciate any help in finding wherever my post went to. Thank you so very much!

  • Are there no revisions shown down below in the edit page’s revisions panel? (If the panel is not visible, use the Screen Options tab at the top of the page to display it.)

I dont see anything about a revisions panel even in the screen options tab. All I see is show on screen options and then screen layout options. Nothing about revisions.
It did save so I don’t see how it could have just disappeared but after I got the error screen and tried again it had only saved 36 words as opposed to about 1,000 at last glance. Is there any way anyone can go in and look? I would be extremely grateful. Thank you very much

In the admin area, if you are editing the specific problem post, the Screen Options tab at the top should have a checkbox to display the Revisions panel. That should put the revision list somewhere down below the post-content panel. Check that first.

Also, in the Publish panel in the right sidebar, there would be a ‘browse’ link to revisions.

If still nothing, you can go into the database to see what’s there for that post. No one here has access to your site or database (if you have a self-hosted site). If you have a wordpress.COM-hosted site, you’re in the wrong forum. Let me know about the revisions panel.

I also have problems with this, I did find the revisions…but unfortunately the huge post I wrote didn’t save at all, only a small segment of it!
This would have to be a wordpress fault I would think.
