• I have a Microsoft Access database (vossnow.net) with 115.000 pictures on a web site using asp script to search and view files with.
But the owner of the web hosting will soon close down.
And the one who made the asp files for me cant help me more.

So I wonder if there is one or another way to use this with wordpress:

    My database consisting of this:

I have a text file with description of all the pictures that looks like this:

    foto111322.jpg>Voss fra Roset (Juni 2020)
    foto111323.jpg>Bavallen fra Hanguren (Juni 2020)
    foto111324.jpg>Bordalen fra Roset (Juni 2020)
    foto111325.jpg>Skulestadmo fra Hanguren (Juni 2020)

All the pictures are stored in a catalog like this:

    foto111322.jpg
    foto111323.jpg
    foto111324.jpg
    foto111325.jpg

And a catalog with web files:

    foto111322.htm
    foto111323.htm
    foto111324.htm
    foto111325.htm

I there a way to use this in wordPress ?

  • I don’t know anything about Access itself except I had a client using Access to populate a Front Page created storefront years ago…

Why not look around for a host that offers a Windows-based web server and migrate your database to there?

My other thought would be to bring the files themselves into a web server or else draw them into the IPFS running on a public-facing IPFS server (depending on your security needs here).

Or an internal server (if your image security needs dictate) gated to a WordPress system…

These are just ideas but there’s some host and some developer out there somewhere who could give you a better more permanent solution on something you’ll have more control of.

To me it’s either a move to a compatible server or else a complete change of storage methods.
