• Here’s another new blog:

    https://johnnasta.com/blog/

I used the Ahimsa theme, which of course I modified as I always do with any theme. Primarily, I added a bunch of stuff to the sidebar to make the navigation more user-friendly. I also made other small changes, such as adding some right & bottom margins to the alignleft class, adding nowrap tags to the header and sidebar elements, and a few other small changes.

I plan to put a lot of information on this blog about setting up web sites in general as well as how to use WordPress.

    Enjoy!

Thanks. Another user told me that there was a huge header area in IE but didn’t say which version. I didn’t see it in IE7 so I didn’t try to diagnose it. The jumping up and down thing is news to me but it also doesn’t happen in IE7. I don’t think there’s any problem seeing the text against the white background.

Some day, in my spare time, I’d like to create a custom theme for this site…

Unfortunately I’ve decided to ditch the Ahimsa theme because it looks pretty bad in IE6, which accounts for 36% of my total audience. I’m going to give the dfBlog theme a try and see what my users think of it.

Hi well i think its verry imformative it help me in the permalink section for my site.

Hey, nice job on the new Ahimsa theme. I’ve asked a friend to check it out for me in IE6. I like the idea of being able to create your own skin.

I still think you need nowrap tags in the title and sidebar cells. I put them in and also added sections back to the sidebar.php rather than using widgets. It’s much easier to customize my own sidebar code than it is to customize a widget.

I should have checked this out sooner.

    Thanks!

I will be moving to jQuery for all the JavaScript in my theme for the next version (2.3). This will bring a bit more stability hopefully (such as the rare but annoying jumping categories/tags ;-)) as well as rounded borders on IE. Full IE6 support is still unlikely, but at least in my meagre testing (I do not have easy access to IE), a blog with the theme was viewable… FWIW!
