• I’d like to thank the folks at WP for their great product. I switched from Blogger.com to WP a little over a month ago, and I am fully satisfied now that I have some small bugs fixed. Also thanks to everybody in the forums who have been very helpful. My blog is https://rightonred.net. Check it out (note: this is a right-of-center political blog with personal views expressed candidly).

  • Your blog sucks.

Oh, I love those “brave” anonymous critics… Anon, don’t hve the guts to stand up for your opinion?
johnnywalker, the site is nice – I mean the look. And, please, do NOT ever apologize for your personal political views (even if expressed on a site done with WP ?? I think there is no need for that! In this thread we discuss the layout, the style of a site, the things that you implemented and so on.
One might like it or not, and that’s OK. Until we keep the discussion in a civilized way about the CSS, HTML and browsers and other stuff like that. Let’s just keep out the discussion of the content – anyone can do that commenting your site, or anybody’s for that matter.

the color scheme is striking … it does make a statement … the small reversed text is (for me, at least) hard to read … but, I’m old! ;o)
upon opening the site – the quick load and the color scheme do ‘make a statement’ … cool!
as for the content, well – whatever your views are, i’m all for your right to ‘express them’ and be free with your thoughts
sadly, as we see, some people cannot be brave enough to sign their thoughts.
Now, the owner of “right on red” may have a pen name of “Johnny Walker Red” … but at least he has an ‘about’ post at the beginning of his blog!
expression is, after all, what blogs are all about – right? so “Johnny Walker Red” – don’t let critics like the goober of an anonymous poster (Posted: Sep 20, 2004 04:36:47 #) give you one second of bad vibes. not that I think it would bother you, but just in case.
    oh, and hello birmingham!
    your blog is cool!

Tiny white type on a burnt sienna backdrop is not particularly readable.
Call AndrewSullivan.com old media if you will, but keep in mind he had the ingenuity to provide his readers with a “dark type on light backdrop” option. Or at least his designer(s?) did.

Thanks, everybody – the only reason I mentioned the content of the blog was so that no one would be offended if they went there not knowing beforehand. Please, if anyone wants to make a critique of my politics, do so on my site and not on the support forums here. My main reason for posting here was to thank the people of the forums and WP in general because I very much appreciate the product, and to get input on the design.
Points well-taken on the hard-to-read aspect. I have been thinking about that, too. I may try another lighter skin and make that available, as anonymous mentioned above.
    Thanks, everybody.
