My new WordPress site
-
Hey guys, check you my new WordPress site: https://appducate.com.
I’ve been working really hard on it for just over a month and would love to hear what you guys think.

hey mate your website looks fine and clean, the only thing I would say is that, the ‘feature image’ of the posts is very large and to me feels a little overwhelming and distracting from the content you are presenting.
I think users might end up skipping the information they are looking for.
Bringing the size of the feature images down wouldn’t be a bad idea.Cheers
JohnI would say the same as above: Nice job, but that first image gives me sensory overload.
Site looks good. A few easy changes to make…
I would say the post titles and images need to be downsized too. Using a black font is also easier on the eye.

Thank you very much for the comments, I value your feedback very highly. It seems you all agree that the featured image is the large. I used to think that, however allow me to explain my thought process on it.

“I would say is that, the ‘feature image’ of the posts is very large and to me feels a little overwhelming and distracting from the content you are presenting.”
I want the featured image to interest or catch the attention of my viewer. Say you’re browsing around online trying to find a solution to fixing an issue with your iPhone syncing with iTunes. You open 2 links from google, 2 different websites.
The first website is like any other, some low resolution picture copied from google images and some text. Then they land on mine: https://appducate.com/2012/12/troubleshoot-an-ios-device-that-wont-sync-in-itunes/, first thing they see is a unique image I’ve made myself. It catches the eye and makes the user continue on my page while closing out the other articles site.
- “first image gives me sensory overload”
When you first came to my site and saw the images, did you instantly click out of the image or did the image interest you enough that you actually read the title and gave a quick look around?
- “Using a black font is also easier on the eye.”
Hmm… that might be a good idea. Any other feedback on the colour of the text?

Edit
—I removed the excerpt scroller from the top as I just realized its useless and just wastes space.

It was only the first image that bothered me in the sense of “overload”, and I glanced away from it while reaching to scroll for information.
Thanks for the feedback, I agree that it was to much. I’ve completely re-done the image, defiantly tones things down.
Cool beans, and you did not have to lose its graphical representation.
It looks great to me. Nice design. You need to work hard to popular your website. Complete good seo. Also need to maintain quality than quantity while you create backlnk. Best luck:)
Thank you for the kind words @blogdips. I try very hard to maintain quality, for instance, I’ve already spent over an hour creating my new featured images for a new post I’ll probably put out tomorrow.
As for popularity, my site has been up for just over a month and people have already started to link to it, from forums to putting links to it directly in their blog posts.
I’m new to SEO, however I think it’s doing ok in that department for only being just over a month old.
Backlinking is great, however currently I’m just trying to amass a large amount of posts, possibly 100 (currently 34). People are already making backlinks for me. I’m not sure how to gauge the quality of the back links. If you have more info you’d like to share on the topic of backlinks to help me I’d be very interesting in hearing more.
Thanks again
Sure, actually seo is not so easy task I think. Also, it requires patience. Within this time frame you should work according to a good plan. The basic offpage seo is backlink, bookmarking, forum postink, article submission, directory submission, and this type of all works. Before that make sure that onpage optimization of your site is ok! Don’t complete seo very first that may hart your site instead helping. Post unique content on your blog. And finally stay with work continue:) Also to get huge traffic on your website you can use social networking sites like facebook, twitter, myspace etc. Here you will found one article about [link redacted – this is not for promoting your own site ]how to use twitter to generate huge traffic. Also, facebook is another great source to generate traffic. But the thing you need to become active on social networking sites. Work confidently, once you will discover you are receiving huge traffic each everyday.
Best luck:)Thanks for the tips blogdips. I’m also checking out some of your articles for more info on sep.
Fast and elegant. I agree: ” the ‘feature image’ of the posts is very large”
Really fast and nice design. I would like to see Android as well ??
Thanks for the feedback canalnova and blograzzi.
@canalnova, I know the featured image is large than the average, however I like, and it’s half the fun of making the article, so I’m sorry to say it’s not something I’ll be changing.
@blograzzi, when and if I ever get an android I’ll be sure to make some Android related posts.
I would say [Advertisement moderated] the same as above: Nice job, but that first image gives me sensory overload.
