What plug-in do you use to get the button that takes you back to the top?

Its called “Dynamic To Top” by Matt Varone… Yeah, I thought it was pretty cool also when I saw it the first time. Unlike you, I had to read through the page source of the person’s website to find out what the plugin was called… lol..

That looks like a featured slider that’s been modified. If your theme has a featured slider, you could play around with the CSS to give you what you want.
