My new site using WordPress

  • Hey all!

    I’ve been going back and forth for a while deciding if I wanted to move my site to WordPress and really glad I did. My main site is static & I don’t update it regularly but I needed a part of the site where I could post pretty much every day.

    I’m still experimenting with the design and thinking of it as more of a work in progress.

    That is really good to hear. It’s been in a state of flux for a few weeks but made a lot of changes the last few days. Think I’ve nailed it down in terms of the look & just a few back-end things to sort out.

    How much roughly do you make from the advertisements you have on your website

    Hiya!

    Well, just now, not too much (pretty much under 20 euros a month.) I put that down to the site not having any advertisements for the first 2 months, and only recently had them there. I don’t get a lot of traffic but it’s been steadily building. Again, it’s probably because the site is so new, and only in the last month or so have I been promoting it via social sites such as facebook, twitter, chime.in, etc.

    I’m so pedantic that it took me ages to think if I should add it, but I somehow needed a way to highlight the most read/coolest articles. I played around with the default settings then change some CSS to get the look I wanted (and to match the site’s look.)

    If anyone’s wondering, the theme is Suffusion but I shaved it right back to have it look the way I wanted.

    Well, I have one word to describe that: Excellent! Really nice website. I like the dark sheme! Totally fits with the website! Good job, well done!

    Hey everyone!

    Many thanks for the kind compliments! God knows why i gravitate towards dark themes because I originally wanted to go with a nice grey/paper-like theme. I’m happy with the way it’s turned out.

    Not sure in which direction the site will go, but it’s pretty much just thing that catch my eye mixed in with a few articles hopefully of interest.

    Any comments greatly appreciated! ??

    Thanks! Really appreciate all the nice comments. My next step is to increase traffic, but I guess that will hopefully be a matter of time.

    Yasbir. what parts don’t you like? Is it the layout, colours, etc.?
