  • I really like it. The only thing I would change would be to make it wider so it looks better on larger screens. I would say large enough to put a 4th featured article on the main page.

Yes, I know what you mean. I did actually experiment with one layout that had 7 featured articles — two main ones across the top, and 5 smaller ones underneath. But in a way, it seemed too big for the style of the website, if that makes sense.

I think there’ll probably be an addition of a sidebar at some point anyway, which will make it wider.

Yeah, it’s not necessary to have a side bar right away, but it will be usefull when you’ll have more content on your site.

    Dear Monkeyboy,

I like your blog and theme It’s really good.

a sidebar will definitely help, or you can consider making it at 800 pixcels rather than 600 which it currently is. am watching it on my laptop which is 1300+ pixcel wide and your blog is looking quite narrow.

i read a few articles about the movie reviews that you have written, and your content is very good. nicely optimized images, a nice about us page, good use of social media, overall, everything is good,

    keep it updated,
    cheers,

    Thanks for the kind words.

In version 2 of the theme, there will be a sidebar. I figure when I get to about 15 to 20 reviews. I guess I didn’t want the website to become too heavy with links, when they’re all more or less pointing to the same 4 or 5 reviews.

Well, I rejigged my website with the addition of an extra column. Let me know what you think. ??

Actually, there is one thing that’s kind of bugging me, that I can’t get to the bottom of. When I’m logged in, the bottom margin of the website is 0px as it should be. But when I’m logged out, a small 3 or 4 pixel margin seems to get created just underneath the green footer.

I can’t figure out why this extra margin appears.

I absolutely love your site, the concept, name, logo, etc. The places where I could see improvement concerns accessibility and visual sustenance. Your site is strongest in the upper left-hand corner. It is weakest in the lower right-hand corner. It peters out into gray backgrounds and boring font. When I scroll down, however, I see the tag cloud, and so much jumps out at me! Tag clouds are the informational x-rays of your site, of your content, and of your brain! I wouldn’t hide this. We feature it front and center on our site – DomainStick.com. It is critical for what we are trying to convey. I think you need it up high – I would switch it out with your twitter postings. I used a customized widget plugin I bought through theme forest – code canyon. It lets you put stuff wherever you want.

I’m a movie buff, I love bananas, and I love monkeys! Great site and thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the feedback, DomainStick. Much appreciated, and an interesting post. I’ve got to admit, I’m in two minds about the grey sidebar myself, but couldn’t seem to find the “right” colour when changing the look. I suppose I could give the widgets themselves a bigger splash of colour, red maybe, which would fit with the suggestion of putting the tags in the sidebar.

Some food for thought, definitely. No doubt there’ll be more changes to the look down the road. ??

Great site. I just subscribed to the RSS. Was thinking about seeing Angry Driver or Green Hornet. Read both reviews and wouldn’t mind seeing either now. Good old Nicolas Cage. Great review and subplot on that one. I got sucked into the site right away so I think it’s good to go. The details that need work are minor and unnoticeable, that is I didn’t notice them because of the content. Looking forward to new reviews.

Humorous site, worth a check back when updates hit in the future (I think). Poor Matt Damon; he really is a good actor.

Thanks guys, glad you like the reviews.

@boyevul Lord knows what’s happened to my RSS feed. It was working last time I checked, now it seems to be knackered. ??

RSS feed is now working again. Not quite sure why though. Disabled all my plugins, it still didn’t work. Switched to the TwentyTen theme, it still didn’t work. Switched back to my old, one column, custom theme, and the RSS feed started working again.

Switched back to my new theme, reactivated all plugins, and it’s still working fine. Very odd.

But at least it’s working for now. Failing that, I always update my Facebook page and Twitter when new stuff is added.

I strongly disagree. If you make your website too wide then people with smaller monitors will have half the website scrolled off the screen. It’s better to be smaller and work for more people then be too large and lose half your audience.
