    Hi

I'm trying to optimise my website as my speed is down.

I'm on a litespeed server, and using your plugin. I started with the advised preset, plus I have included image lazy loading. I am also using a separate cache for mobile and desktop.

Now what I'm finding. Everything looks amazing straight after I've done my optimisations, cleared cache and then i run a whole number of pageinsight scores on some pages. (I have screenshots of all my scores, please see this link. (my public folder on my google drive)

    https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1nypqRMHAAli9wRJfMiCK3TYs8owmLecv?usp=share_link

the files stating 0 are the initial readings. The files starting 1- are all the later reading)

Basically CLS, and Total blocking time all green. Performance in the 90% and up.. This is on mobile and desktop.

Now I wait and hour and redo all tests..

On mobile. CLS, and Total blocking time all RED. Performance in the 56% , 70% and 86%.

On desktop. All scores exactly the same as my initial tests...

Why would this be.., what can I do to sort this???

    regards, Bruce

  • From your error description is unfortunately not clear what your actual problem is. Therefore specify your problem a little more precisely, because you can only get a solution to your problem by.

hi. My problem is fairly clear. Pageinsight scores start very good on mobile and desktop.

After some hours have passed, i test everything again. Desktop score remain high. Mobile scores are significantly down. This is across all metrics, but mainly blocking time, cls and overall pageinsight score. But only on mobile.

that’s the issue. What info do you require to debug this?

    regards, Bruce

hi. My problem is fairly clear.

No, they are relative, but not absolute.

PageSpeed criteria are variable and not the same for every device, so mobile devices have stricter requirements than desktop computers.

However, you seem to think that good optimization results in a high PageSpeed Score. But that is a misconception. In order to pass the PageSpeed test, a page must not only be optimized, but also be able to load quickly. Fast loading is only possible with a cached page.

Whenever you run a manual PageSpeed test because of this, make sure that the requested page is cached. This is the only way you will receive the corresponding test results.

    what are these URLs ?

and on your 56/70 screenshot , what are the failed opportunity?

I still can’t work out why my desktop scores stay the same over a number of hours. I can also see that my desktop is being served by the cache on my “response header” in Google developer options. However I do not know how to do this on chrome mobile.

My mobile pageinsight scores start great, but after an hour or so, they regress. CLS is is up (from green to red). Blocking goes also from green to red. Plus the overall performance % drops by almost 25% on all pages.

I also need assistance in trying to work out what to look for… I’m totally lost on how to begin to resolve this issue

any change on the “opportunity” list when it happens ?

    Thread Starter brucemacg

    (@brucemacg)

    There are differences / opportunities.

I enclose 2 screenshots, being page 1 and page 2 of my pageinsights report.  The pageinsight reports are side by side. Report on the left, is from running pageinsight on old cache. (i.e. from yesterday when I refreshed cache). Report on the right is after I have cleared all critical css and unique Css and then purge all cache.

    https://snipboard.io/KuHmVg.jpg

    https://snipboard.io/h4qAQz.jpg

Essentially you can see how performance degrades over a couple of hours. It seems (to me), that a job is optimising my CSS, and in the process messing things up. This is only on mobile.

The differences I see in the 2 reports>

Old cache seems optimised, in that there is only 0.15sec of Unused CSS.

New cache has 1.05 sec of unused cache…

New cache also introduces “render-blocking”. Interesting the “render-blocker” file is the large CSS file which forms the bulk of the “unused cache”. Interestingly this file is from litespeed.(...co.za/wp-content/litespeed/css/cc1756de….eb.css?ver=6fd70)

    My litespeed CSS settings

My Page optimisation à CSS settings are

    CSS minify = ON

    CSS combine = off

    Generate UCSS = off

    UCSS inline = off

Css combine external and inline = off

    Load css asynchronously = off

    Css per url = ON

Inline CSS async lib = ON

    Font display optimisation = swap
    Thread Starter brucemacg

    (@brucemacg)

    I also turned these off

    css per url = off

    inline css async = off

same behaviour mobile scores start high and then degrade…. Litespeed cache seems to be the issue

    cheers, Bruce

the second screenshot is very blur , could you please do me a clearer on that? can’t read the item in the opportunity list

Purging Unique and Critical CSS clears the problem…. But All my CSS options are off, other than minify..???

    Thread Starter brucemacg

    (@brucemacg)

    Hi

I still have an issue where my critical css and combined css seems to be perfect on desktop, but not on mobile. What can I do to resolve this issue?

    regards, Bruce

    (@brucemacg)

    Hi

    This is going nowhere..

I see you have premium support, can I pay for a fix (i.e. correct unique and critical CSS)?? If yes, how?

    regards

    @brucemacg

You don’t need neither payed support nor anything else that has to be fixed. The PageSpeed screenshot https://snipboard.io/Zw20dg.jpg shows how PageSpeed sees the display while loading your page. This screen shows the history only how your page is displayed with the “eyes of PageSpeed” to show you what could be done better, but influence anything.
