my ‘Minimalist’ theme won’t work in Firefox

  • Hi folks.
    I’m assembling a new website/blog, you can see the work-in-progress over here: jessiedoesthings.com/wp/ and while it looks correct in Chrome and IE, Firefox (3.5) chews it up and messes with the right hand side content. Is this something I can fix in coding?

  • Well, you could start by sorting out the validation errors.

    The majority of these (with the exception of some accidental spaces in <_br> tags) are part of the original theme. I’ll be the first to admit I suck at anything beyond basic HTML and CSS, which is why I’m using a theme in the first place – I’ll fix what I can, but that’s pretty strange.

    Alright, I got about half the errors gone, the rest are part of individual entries or unchangable template things and it still does not work. What’s plan B?

    I’m sorry but there are still more than 90 validation errors on your front page – including mis-nested tags and missing closing tags. Until they’re sorted, there’s not a lot you can do. Personally, I develop in Firefox initially, cross-check in Opera and when those two look OK, check in IE. If there are IE specific problems on valid pages, they can often be handled via conditional comment CSS.
