These issues are not sure to be related. Here is what I initially suggest to both of you:
First, make sure you have the latest version of the plugin. At the time of writing, this is 2.9.
Then go to Instagram Feed > Settings. Make sure your connection is valid (you can use the Connect an Instagram Account button, go through the connection process and Save Changes). Check that the connected account is connected as ‘Primary Feed’ as well and Save Changes. Then go to Instagram Feed > Customize > click Reset Resized Images and Clear Backup Caches. Finally, clear any website and local cache then check again.
