My html is lost when I switch from text view to visual and back

Our Text Editor widget visual editor will automatically add the <p> </p> tags when the paragraph option has been selected.

The reason why it’s not appearing visually within the text tab in the editor widget is because it’s already using the Paragraph tag by default.

In this regard, with Elementor Instead of adding the <p> tag manually, a <p> tag is added automatically by hitting the enter button at the end of your paragraph.

This is the default behavior of WordPress TinyMCE editor.
unfortunately, there is no other way to do this except adding the HTML tags manually.

OK, I understand that, David. I can certainly live without seeing my paragraph tags. But why is the actual formatting lost during the switch from text to visual and back? It’s not just that the <p> isn’t visible: the paragraphs are lost and it becomes one big mass of text. I’m confused about your last line, too. Adding the tags manually is exactly what I was doing.

Elementor’s text editor widget is using the same classic editor which can be found inside WordPress.

If you can try and see the classic editor and if the HTML tags are also removed from there too then this is not in our control as this is the behavior of the WordPress classic editor.

This is why we have our own HTML Widget where you can add your custom HTML and it will stay the way it is.

Thanks, David. That’s good to know, but doesn’t help much when a website is already mostly finished. I need to edit existing content, not create new content, so the HTML widget isn’t of much use in that situation.
