When using a FTP Client program to upload, my host provider won’t allow any files that start with a period, like .htaccess

I’ve tested some of my images at hotlink testing sites and they aren’t protected. How do I get around my host, or protect my bandwidth?

    Thanks,

    TW

  • rename the file on you HD to htaccess.txt, upload it to your FTP, then when the file is on your FTP right click it and select ‘rename’. Rename the file .htaccess

    Done.

I’d already tried renaming it and the host won’t allow it to be renamed. Red text about not having permission.

I see discussions about changing permissions using Apache somethingoranother, but I doubt I have that level of access either.

    BTW, I’m hosted on AT&T-Yahoo
