• Hello everyone

I would like to inquire that my favicon does not show up on GOOGLE search.

I originally thought it was a problem with the hosting provider, so I asked BLUEHOST a question. The customer service staff thought it might be a problem with the theme, because my website icon was not uploaded correctly from the background database.

But I set the upload status from the WordPress background, so I would like to ask how to deal with this matter?

    My GeneratePress version is 3.3.0
    My WordPress version is 6.2.2
    My URL is: https://daydreamaster.com/

  • Hi there,

if your favicon shows in the browser tab, and it complies to the guidlines provided here:

    https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/favicon-in-search#guidelines

Then it should be ok. But it is up to google whether it shows the icon or not. The Theme cannot influence that.

Bluehost’s official special inspection found that the background database did not read the picture of the website icon, and it was determined that it was caused by a bug in the theme.

If there was a bug in the theme then everyone using GeneratePress would have the same issue. And none of my websites or the GeneratePress would have a favicon displaying in their browsers or in Mobile SERPS ( if Google allows it ). And they do.

First make sure your Favicon is valid. There are several favicons websites that will do this for you.

check that the icon complies to these guidelines:

    https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/favicon-in-search#guidelines

Then upload the new favicon to your site.

Check if it displays in your Browser tab bar. Then you have a valid favicon.

Then you need to wait for Google to determine if your favicon is valid and that Google wants to show it in Mobile SERPs. And it is up to Google to determine that.
