My events plugin has disappeared and I can’t re-install

    My events plugin has disappeared from my website. It is not in my plug in list at all. When I try to re-install it, I get an error message that says the install failed because the destination folder already exists. I’ve read several threads about similar problems, one of which said to rename the existing folder but I can’t even get to it because it’s not in the plugin list. help!

    This can happen sometimes, unfortunately.

    Can you try using FTP software or the file manager provided through your host’s control panel to remove any stray files and folders (from wp-content/plugins) and then try again?

    Thank you! That’s exactly what I did.

    I used FileZilla and deleted the folder for Events Calendar AND Events Calendar Pro. I tried to re-upload it from my WordPress dashboard and it failed with a different error:

    Installation failed: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN”> 500 Internal Server Error Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

    So then I re-deleted the folders and then transferred them directly using FileZilla. All I had to do was activate them from my wordpress dashboard and all is well with the world!
