• Firstly, I’m a novice. This is my third day working on building my site https://www.acornbbs.com . I was quietly proud of my progress, having built a home page blog and seven descriptive textural static pages.

    However, this afternoon, my Nav Bar went missing and I can’t get it back! As I recall, I was working on embedding an image into my first sticky post, which went well also, when I saved the task and revisited my Home Page only to find my Nav Bar AWOL!

    Does anybody out there have any suggestions? I really do need help on this one. Note, that I’m a little overwhelmed by this whole code thing, so if you have any suggestions that don’t involve digging into code, I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks in anticipation.

  • Hi Hurricane1,

    Did you move any pages? If you’re using the TwentyEleven theme, if you deleted any pages such as About it might get rid of the menu bar.

    I think by default it lists the page.

    In your WordPress admin area, under Appearance > Menu or Appearance > Theme Options, make sure nothing regarding the menu has gone awry.

    Best of luck with the site!

    Hi Harry: Thanks for your response.

    I followed your suggestion, Appearance > Menus and dragged and dropped pages from the “Pages” box to the white space under “Favourite Links”. Note: that while all of my pages are listed under “Pages”, they are listed last to first rather than in the chosen order. When I drag and drop, they are in the same inverse order. When I drag and drop to put them in the preferred order, the Parent page/Child page relationship becomes inverse also.

    The good news is that I get my Nav Bar back; the bad news is that:

    1. The Page order is back to front;
    2. My Home Page is still missing.

    Any other thoughts.

    Thanks Harry.

    Harry:

    Should have added…I did pursue the other suggestion you gave me, which was Appearance > Theme Options, but didn’t see anything on that page that would have caused me any pain. I likely have fiddled about with the default colour link, but nothing more (at least consciously.

    This whole thing is bewildering…and I was doing so well too!

    OK…we’re making progress here! I’ve found my Home Page and I’ve got all my pages in order now. The only problem I’ve hot is that my Parent/Child Pages are not working. However, I’ll be able to fix this, I think!
