My db partially disappeared.

  • I am not sure whether my site was hacked or not. I did notice that something wasn’t right yesterday. From time to time I was getting a 404 error everytime I tried accessing an admin panel and from time to time when looking at posts.
    Anyone knows whether it might have been a hacking attack or is there an issue with my site?

    Turns out all the categories and tags are still there. but I can’t use any of them. I don’t see them in admin panel, but when I try to add the categories it says that they are there. I don’t get it.

    I have deleted the wp_term and tried adding the tags and categories again. Seems to work, but tags are for some reason become categories, but I can’t remove them from there. I can’t add link categories at all. I get the following error:

    Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in /home/sergey/public_html/wp-admin/edit-link-categories.php on line 179

    It happened again. Suddenly all the posts are in Uncategorized category and have no tags. I tried editing the posts. Added the categories and tags, but after saving the categories and tags just disappear.

    Hi detoam,

    Did you try re-uploading (ftp) the directory’s wp-admin and wp-includes?

    Did you try repairing your database?
