My CSS has just suddenly stopped!

    I’m not sure how to figure this out, much less explain what’s wrong: My CSS has just quit functioning. I’m using WP 1.2.5 and Kubrick 1.2.6. I had been fumbling with two different tweaks. The first was to install the Zero Comment Spam edits found here: https://internetalchemy.org/2004/09/zero-comment-spam

    And the second was to leave the “title of my weblog” in the WP Admin page but to hide it from the viewer. This because I had a custom header image and didn’t need the Kubrick’s styling for the header. So, I followed Mike Heilleman’s FAQ for editing the wp-layout.css page to do that.

    I’ve reversed my edits, even replacing with BRAND NEW files from both WP and Kubrick’s downloads and STILL can’t get my CSS to take hold.

    I’m a fairly rank amateur at this, so I’m at the end of my wits. Thoughts? (AIM or iChat me at enentrup(at)mac(dot)com)

  • Your CSS file doesn’t have viewing permissions as well as the images that are specified in the style tags.

    Thanks for that help. I’m afraid you’re going to have to spoonfeed me though. For what it’s worth, I was messing around with the “permissions” of several files by checking the properties of those files in my FTP client. Is that where I screwed it up? Can you tell me SPECIFICALLY what I need to change?

    Can anybody else help me fix my CSS file’s permissions?

    Well, the permissions have to be at least ‘read’ for you (User) and the surfers (Other). So, check what permissions you have for wp-layout.css and the images (images/kubrickbgcolor.jpg, images/kubrickfooter.jpg, images/kubrickbg.jpg).

    Find wp-layout.css and set it’s permissions to 755 (CHMOD 755). Here are some tutorials: https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/ftp/
