my comments have vanished

    ok, after crashing my entire server over the weekend whilst installing wordpress (go, me!) i had to reinstall everything and re-upload everything after having tech support wipe my files out. (no one is as talented as i am at breaking things).

    only now no one can comment on my blog. i get a error message. can someone kindly tell me what i am missing? i am pretty darn sure i did everything right the second time around (ok, so i am still having issues with the .htaccess file, it was in changing that last time that i killed everything).

    i think i need to move something around but for the life of me i can’t figure it out. you know how to you can stare at a word for ever and it still looks wrong (or right) and you just need someone else to go look to get your brain working again? well i’m having that problem. ??

    everything *except* index.php and wordpress.php is in the wordpress directory. i did the necessary edits to the files to redirect people to my index.php. but did i need to do something with the comment files?

    i’m just having a bad month. ?? (didn’t help that i was doing all this stuff with a fever this weekend. but i am stubborn that way!)

    crap, I thought I was in Troubleshooting! I’m sorry about posting this here!!! can someone move it for me if there’s a problem??

    Are you using the default or classic theme, or one of your own?

    Your permalinks don’t work either. So, I’d start with cleaning up the permalink settings, i.e. try to see whether it works without permalinks, and then go from there. BTW, have you checked this guide about intalling WP in a different directory?

    Thanks, Moshu! I had forgotten to update the permalink fields in admin. I did that and it’s working now. And I used that guide for installing the index.php this weekend. It worked great until I tried messing with my .htacces file. Although things seem to be working fine now that I fixed it in settings.

    lawtai – I am currently using the WP 1.5 Default theme until I teach myself how to make a new one.

    I swear I am not normally this dim. ??
