I noticed the sidebar suddenly turning up when I view an event or a location where the sidebar is not used elsewhere on the website.

After a bit of experimenting I believe the trouble lies with the event and location viewer use the “blog page” template. I have not been able to find any setting to change the page template used to display events and locations.

Also, this information should not be available to anyone who is not logged in, yet it is. That may be due to a misunderstanding of yours truly.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Yes, if no custom template file is provided, My Calendar uses the single.php template. You can add a custom template single-mc-events.php to use that instead.

It took me a while (and a bit of searching) to figure out what you meant, but in the end I figured I just had to symlink single-mc-events.php to page.php in my active theme directory.

Doing the same with single-mc-locations.php created the same layout for locations. This trick was not directly found in the documentation but it made sense, so I gave it a try.
