• Hello,

I have a website on www.remarpro.com, and with it email .. lots of emails. I want to leave the emails as-is but change www.remarpro.com settings to allow me to connect to my finished WP site hosted elsewhere.

    Just curious ….

    1. Do I change A, or MX records to do this?
    2. Is there anything I need to change on my WordPress website to make this work?

    Thank you so much!
    Mike

    I have a website on www.remarpro.com

    I’ll assume you mean a self-hosted WordPress installation since www.remarpro.com doesn’t have anyone’s web site. ??

Who’s your DNS provider? Your MX records and your WordPress site aren’t connected. Though you do need your MX records correct so that you can get notifications from your WordPress site such as when people leave comments.

I’d guess that you’ve got your website on WordPress.com, which is a commercial service that uses the software www.remarpro.com.
If you’re on WordPress.com, then you should look for answers there.

    I am very sorry .. I have a site on wordpress.COM (my mistake …)

I only want to change the site “location” not email .. but I don’t want to mess anything up.

The WP website that I created is on Hostmonster.com.

I suggest you carefully check your options with the support at WordPress.com.
I believe it should be possible to keep your emails with WordPress.com, but set it all up so that the website will live on a different hosting.
However, either wp-com, or the/some other host will have to be the main starting point for name resolution of your domain name.
I.e. I guess you might leave the domain with WordPress.com and change the record for the web server to point to your new place.
Or you might transfer the domain to your new host and point the MX record back to WordPress.com.
Have in mind, though, that you can’t move an existing domain name into WordPress.com. (It’s still possible to move a blog there, but you’d then leave the domain registration outside and simply point it towards WordPress.com).

    Good luck!
