We have two very similar WordPress Sites, WP v4.9.7, both with similar TwentyFourteen/Child themes, and similar plugins overall. Both have “Health Check & Troubleshooting” plugin v1.2.1 installed and activated.

Just noticed, at the top of the Dashboard/Plugins Page:
One site has a “Must-Use” plugin “Health Check Disable Plugins” with a description of “Conditionally disabled plugins on your site for a given session, used to rule out plugin interactions during troubleshooting.” The other site does not have this.

So is “Health Check Disable Plugins” related to “Health Check & Troubleshooting“? Should it be in the “Must-Use” section or not?

    Thanks

    Hiya,

Yes, that must-use plugin belongs to this plugin, and it does belong in the Must-Use section.

Essentially, the plugin won’t be added there until you try to use features which require functionality from our Troubleshooting Mode (so testing individual plugins for loopback issues, or enabling Troubleshooting Mode in general). Until either of those are used, we won’t add the Must-Use plugin.

The Must-use plugin will also be automatically removed if the Health Check plugin is deleted through WordPress.

Ahhh…. I must have enabled Troubleshooting Mode on let’s say Site A in the past, then it toggled on a “Must-Use” plugin of “Health Check Disable Plugins” (perhaps an older name of the plugin?).

I just enabled Troubleshooting Mode on Site B, then disabled it, and now under “Must-Use” plugins it shows “Health Check Troubleshooting Mode” (rather than “Health Check Disable Plugins”) with a description of “Conditionally disabled themes or plugins on your site for a given session, used to rule out conflicts during troubleshooting. Version 1.5.0

Then went back to Site A and enabled Troubleshooting Mode again, disabled it, and it changed the “Must-Use” plugin from “Health Check Disable Plugins” to “Health Check Troubleshooting Mode“.

Both sites are now consistent in how the “Must-Use” Plugin is displayed.

    Thanks for your help!

Edit: But one quick question… should it be showing ver 1.5.0 in the description when the plugin version is 1.2.1 ?

    Happy to help ??

And yes, Site A would be running an older version of the Must-Use file, when it’s needed the plugin will check if a newer Must-Use plugin is bundled and update it accordingly for you as well.
