• This plugin is very powerful and well supported. I have to admit that at first I was confused when I arrived to the dashboard. I went straight to deactivate the plugins that I didn’t want to autoupdate (but guess what, I deactivated them at the ‘Plugin and Theme Updates’ column instead of from the ‘Plugin and Theme Automatic Updates’). I scrolled by chance and found the second column but if I hadn’t I would have been setting some unwanted configuration. After I went to the Youtube Channel and watched all the videos it was completely clear for me, but I want to warn the developers that the fact that second column is hidden down there in the dashboard can lead to bad configuration and bad reviews by other users.
    Keep up the great work!!!

Also, I have a question. I guess the Theme automatic updates only work for themes from the repository, not paid themes bought from other places such as Themeforest, right? (even though you can actually activate in green the automatic updates) If it is so, then I also feel it is a bit contradictory that the plugin actually lets you put in green a theme that won’t be able to automatically update.

First of all, thanks for the review!

We do understand that the dashboard layout is confusing and because of that we are working on figuring out ways to make it easier to use. Hopefully in some upcoming updates soon there will be some design changes for the dashboard and layout of the settings page.

You are correct. Automatic updates only work with plugins and themes that are on www.remarpro.com. This is because premium plugins and themes use different update systems. We could hook some update systems into Easy Updates Manager although that would result in far more work then it would probably be worth.

This is a minor thing and one that is probably best not to be changed. It is contradictory for sure. The problem is that if we remove those plugins and themes that are not on www.remarpro.com then I will be answering twice as many support tickets about people wondering why only certain plugins and themes are showing. Also, some third party plugins and themes do work with automatic updates. So if one just so happens to then that would be a problem for the person that happens to.

    Hopefully that answers your questions!

The dashboard as such is very useful once you know how it works and should stay where it is, it’s just a matter of the presentation of the columns. Maybe the columns ‘WordPress Updates’ and ‘Plugin and Theme Updates’ should be laid in the same line; and then ‘Automatic Updates’ and ‘Plugin and Theme Automatic Updates’ in a different one.

Regarding premium plugins and theme updates, I perfectly understand your reasoning and if you say it is not worth the work I trust you. But here again I am thinking on the newbies and the ‘trusting’ ones that will mistakenly believe it will do the updates for them and forget to login to the website forever. I believe it wouldn’t harm if it appeared a warning notice telling them that premium plugins and themes updates need to update themselves.

On a different note, I just logged in to one of my accounts where I installed Easy Updates Manager and it didn’t update automatically one of the plugins I set to automatically update. Is this because the updates are configured to happen at one particular time of the day and not right after they are received? Because I rechecked the configuration and it was correctly set.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

It does say it in the documentation, although that is a good point. Perhaps a notice or text blurb in the settings page would make it less confusing.

Easy Updates Manager doesn’t set any time or delay to update things, it is all based on when cron is triggered. So if your website is not active chances are it will take longer then shorter. Setting up a cron job can fix this.
