musician theme or basic/creative with plugins?

hi,

i’m a musician and artist looking to build a wordpress site and am currently looking at themes. i like the musician themes that have an audio player on the front/home page and the other features available like touring/gigs page and mailing list, etc. but as a visual artist who also wants to sell my artwork and have a portfolio/gallery etc. on the site, i’m wondering if a specific musician theme is expandable enough or whether i should get a basic/creative theme and then add plug ins for an audio player and tours/gigs, etc. i know the actual listening and purchasing of the music can be done by integrating the bandcamp player/seller into any compatible theme, etc. but, i have read/heard that having a bunch of plug ins on a site slows it down, etc.

so i’m basically wondering if anyone with experience has an opinion, with regard to choosing a theme that will serve an artist and musician who wants to show sell both their music and their visual art, is it better to get a musician site and it will be plenty expandable for the visual art/portfolio/gallery/selling or is it better to get a basic/creative site and add plug ins, etc.? any advice would be greatly appreciated!
