• hi,

Im a newbie, currently using wordpress 4.0. And im planning to enable multisite so i can manage different sites with 1 wordpress. Im going to use different domains for each site. Everyone talks about this “WordPress MU Domain Mapping” that allows you to do that. Question is, will it work fine wordpress 4.0?

    Has anyone tried it yet?

  • Hey ??

Just my experience with this Plugin today: I tried exactly this Plugin in my Virtual Machine a few hours ago and it didn’t work with WP 4.0. It doesn’t recognize sunrise.php in the htdocs/wp-content-directory and just throws errors, although I configured the wp-config.php the right way and also added sunrise.php in my wp-content-directory. I don’t know… I think this Plugin is great but I could’nt get it working in my WP 4.0.

I do the mapping now with the nginx-helper-Plugin (as I am using nginx instead of apache) and the mapping-tool which is included.

    It works fine on Apache.

I have spent a few days now with some plugin incompatibility issues (mostly image sliders of all kinds), and found this plugin WordPress MU Domain Mapping to be the issue. Other than that the plugin has worked well in doing what it is supposed to do. I’m using 4.0 on a typical Apache server from Bluehost, with sub-domain directories. Not sure why I’ve had plugin battles but that’s not the issue here . . . . . concerning other possible issues, but I have a potential work around for you.

WordPress multi-site 4.0 is smart enough to do the mapping for you. Simply specify the Site and Home URLs in the “networking Sites >> Settings” as you like and that’s almost it. What is missing is to define cookies to be specific to each site, as aptly explained by our colleague Mr. Epstein in the article “Mapping Domains Without a Plugin”. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, you’re really helpful. I installed the plugin and it works fine so far. I also didn’t know that you can map domains with 4.0 without a plugin..

I’ve been using this plugin since the start of my multisite and have 38 domains mapping correctly. After upgrading to WP 4.0 I cannot get #38 to map. When accessing the new mapped site it sends me to the registration page at the root site. Anyone having similar issues?

Sorry. My issue was a dumb typo. Working fine now
