Multisite won't work

I’m guessing it is because you are using port 8888 in your URL.

Per the WordPress Codex, “Before You Create A Network” page:

You cannot create a network in the following cases:

“WordPress address (URL)” uses a port number other than ‘:80’, ‘:443’.

Can you change the port to either 80 or 443?

I just did a google search for “mamp change port number to 80”, since I use XAMPP personally. I think you might find your answer here.

There’s Apache Port at 8888 and mySQL port at 8889, which one do I change to 80 or do I do both?

Is there a problem running Mulit-site as localhost?

Multisite with subdomains can be a problem. Some way you need to get a wildcard in there or if just testing, set up a few hardcoded subdomains in your hosts file.

I tried to get it to work by changing but get following error message:

“Multisite only works without the port number in the URL.”

…when I use any number apparently.
