Multisite with wrong performance reports

  • Hi,
    I created a multisite network and installed Autoptimize, the plugin seems to work but, when I test my webpages with tools like Pingdom or GT Metrix they find all my original css and js, as if they were not aggregated. If I check the code of the pages with Chrome I see instead only the files generated by Autoptimize.
    Is this a known problem? The plugin is working but I wonder if these reports are somehow showing a real issue that is slowing down my website.

    a cache somewhere (plugin? hoster? cloudflare? …) that is serving an old un-optimized version of the site while you see the new optimized pages maybe? can you share your URL @openviewsnc?

    Hi Frank,
    the website has a temporary URL because it’s not yet published, anyway you can see it at https://centrodimedicina.flywheelsites.com/ (as you can see it’s hosted by Flywheel). I cleared the cache in Flywheel’s dashboard and saved and cleared the cache several times with Autoptimize, but nothing changed. The website uses Flywheel’s CDN but I’ve already used Autoptimize with this CDN and I’ve never met this problem.

    This project is a little bit complicated and the pages are loading, after optimization, in 5 – 6 seconds, so I welcome your help if you can find out something.

    Autoptimize does seem to be working normally (I looked at HTML source + did a google pagespeed insight test + did a webpagetest.org test).

    Now the fact AO works, does not mean you have the optimal configuration. You could try removing js/jquery/jquery.js from the JS optimization exclusion (this is excluded by default as a lot of themes & plugins need jquery early) and you could try “inline all CSS” (easy) or “inline & defer CSS” (better) to improve initial rendering performance. Have a look at the FAQ for more info on these topics.

    Hi Frank,
    thanks for your answer. We’ve been busy in the last 2 days because we published the website, you can find it here: https://centrodimedicina.com/.

    After the publication we had a new problem since the plugin is not working in the main blog (.js and .css are neither optimized nor aggregated). Instead in the child blogs it looks like everything’s working (see for example https://padova.centrodimedicina.com/).

    Any idea why this is happening?

    P.S. I added this message to this thread because to me the problem could be related to the errors we had before in reports, if that is not the case we can start a new thread.

    Had a quick look at both the main blog and the child blog and for me neither are autoptimized actually. no idea what is happening I’m afraid. Could be a plugin conflict maybe (try disabling one by one?) or theme (try switching briefly), or something specific to Flywheel (ask them?)?
